If you or someone you know needs help now, you can:
- Visit the websites above for information about depression, recovery and how to access personal support.
- Contact the depression helplines: freephone 0800 111 757 or freetext 5626.
- If you or someone you know needs urgent help for a mental health crisis, contact your local Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT):
- In your phone book, turn to the last green-striped section at the front titled 'Hospital and other Health Service providers.'
- In that section, look for a listing for the local hospital or District Health Board and locate 'Mental Health services' or, in some cases, 'Psychiatric services'. Phone that number to ask for advice.
- In some areas there may be a listing for CATT (Community Assessment and Treatment Team) or a Crisis Assessment Team. If so, phone the number given. If there's no response (after hours), then phone the hospital's main number and ask the operator for 'emergency' mental health services.
- You can also go to your nearest Hospital Emergency Department
- If you or someone you know needs emergency help where somebody may be at risk of harm, telephone 111
